Alicia Michelle Adcock

Alicia Adcock joined the firm as a law clerk in 2008 and became a full-time attorney in 2010 upon admission to the Indiana Bar. She focuses her practice primarily on family law, helping clients navigate complex legal and emotional matters including divorce, custody, child support, adoptions, guardianships, enforcement of orders and other miscellaneous issues. Alicia serves as a family law mediator and guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of children in contested custody cases. Alicia also handles cases in personal injury, wrongful death, expungements, estate planning, and general civil litigation.
She earned her J.D. cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 2010, after receiving a B.A. (magna cum laude) in Political Science and History from Anderson University in 2007. Alicia is admitted to practice in Indiana (2010), as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” from 2017 through 2020 and was selected to Super Lawyers in the area of family law from 2023 to 2026. Recently, Alicia was listed among the Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s 2025 Distinguished Fellows recognizing her service to the community and commitment to the profession. Alicia resides in Hamilton County with her husband, children and their Golden Retriever, Chili.

Robert C. Becker

Robert Becker has over three decades of legal experience across both civil and criminal litigation. He has extensive expertise in family law – including contested custody cases, high-asset divorces, adoptions, and guardianships – and is also seasoned in defending clients facing felony and misdemeanor criminal charges. In addition, Bob handles personal injury and other civil matters as part of his broad practice. He earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 1989 and holds a B.S. in Public Administration from Indiana University (1986). Becker is admitted to the bar in Indiana (1989) and to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been an active leader in the legal community, having served as Treasurer (2002–2003), Vice-President (2004–2005), and President (2006–2007) of the Hamilton County Bar Association. Bob is also a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

Eric J. Benner

Eric Benner has been with the firm since 1989 and has over 35 years of experience in numerous areas of the law. His practice centers heavily on family law handling contested custody disputes, complex divorce cases (including high value asset divisions), paternity matters, adoptions, guardianships, and estate issues. Eric is a registered family law mediator (trained in 2009) and has successfully mediated numerous cases, helping parties resolve disputes out of court to save time, reduce conflict, and maintain control over outcomes.
Along with the area of family law, he has extensive experience in criminal defense, handling offenses from Operating While Intoxicated to major felonies.
Eric also practices in personal injury litigation, having represented hundreds of injured clients and obtained favorable recoveries.
Eric earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1989 and received a B.S. in Business Economics and Public Policy from Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1986. He is admitted to practice in Indiana (1989), the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, and the United States Supreme Court. In professional service, Eric has served as Vice President of the Hamilton County Bar Association (1996-1997). He has also contributed to the community by serving on the Hamilton County Alcoholic Beverage Commission (1999-2007). Earlier in his career, he gained experience as a law clerk in the Indiana Tax Court and for Federal Magistrate, J. Patrick Ensley. Eric remains a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and continues to apply his wide-ranging legal expertise to assist clients in family, criminal and civil matters.
Eric has made oral arguments multiple times in the Indiana Supreme Court and has made significant contributions to the law in the State of Indiana relating to civil contempt, having successfully argued the following cases:

Timothy J. Hixson
Partner
Tim is a graduate of Butler University earning a degree with High Honors in Sociology/Criminal Justice, and a minor in Political Science. While at Butler, Tim was a member and officer in the Beta Zeta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity; a member of Order of Omega, a Greek honorary society; a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honorary Society; and the recipient of the Butler University Sociology Department’s Edwin Sutherland Award, which is given to the student who best shows an aptitude for criminology. During his freshman year, Tim was a member of the Butler University Baseball Team and currently enjoys playing competitive baseball in the Indiana Adult Baseball League.
Tim continued his education at the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis (now the McKinney School of Law). During law school, he participated as an Associate Editor of the Indiana Health Law Review, and earned the honor of having his student note published in the 2006 issue. Tim earned Dean’s List recognition and was a member of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society while in law school.
Tim joined Richards, Boje, Pickering, Benner & Becker (now Boje, Benner, Becker, Markovich & Hixson, LLP) in 2005, as a law clerk while still attending law school. Tim began full-time as an attorney with the firm following his admission to the Indiana Bar in 2006. Since joining the firm, Tim has enjoyed working on a variety of legal issues, and focuses his practice primarily in the areas of criminal defense and juvenile delinquency matters. Tim gained significant experience in the field of juvenile delinquency while working as a bailiff in the Marion County Juvenile Court prior to law school. In addition to private criminal defense, he currently serves as a public defender for juveniles and adults through contracts with Hamilton County courts. Tim’s work in the areas of criminal defense and delinquency matters includes DUI/OWI defense, felony and misdemeanor offenses, suppression hearings, and property offenses such as theft or burglary. In addition to his work in criminal defense and juvenile delinquency, he practices in the areas of personal injury, family law, estate planning, and other civil matters.
Tim resides in Hamilton County with his wife, Jane, and their children. Tim and Jane enjoy watching their kids’ activities and recreational bowling in their free time.

Laurie D. Johnson
Partner
Laurie Johnson has spent her entire legal career with Boje, Benner, Becker, Markovich & Hixson, LLP, starting as a law clerk with the firm in May of 2000. In 2002, Laurie became an Associate Attorney with the firm following her graduation from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis (now known as the IU McKinney School of Law) and her admission to the Indiana Bar. As an Associate Attorney, Laurie gained vast experience and knowledge in many areas of law under the guidance and mentorship of the firm’s past and present senior partners. Laurie specifically focused her time as an Associate Attorney assisting partners and clients in complex litigation, business and real estate matters, as well as appeals. In addition, Laurie has handled a majority of the firm’s personal injury practice since 2002. In 2016, Laurie became a partner at the firm. Laurie focuses her practice on assisting clients in Hamilton County and surrounding counties in general civil and business litigation matters, personal injury, estate planning, probate and estate administration, and real estate. Laurie also represents multiple small and closely held businesses in central Indiana. In addition to her legal practice, Laurie is a key member of the firm’s leadership team and she plays a significant role in managing the firm’s business and operations, giving her a unique perspective in assisting her business clients with practical and creative solutions for business management and approaching business legal matters.
Laurie has extensive experience in representing clients before the Indiana Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. From 1997 to 1999, Laurie interned at the Clerk of the Indiana Court of Appeals, Supreme Court, and Tax Court, where she gained substantial knowledge of Indiana appellate practice and procedure. Since becoming an attorney in 2002, Laurie has represented clients in both civil and criminal appeals, including appeals in which she has successfully challenged lower court decisions in the Indiana Supreme Court on transfer.
Laurie is a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and has practiced law for over two decades in central Indiana. Laurie is known for her diligent advocacy on behalf of clients and her common-sense approach to problem solving. Laurie and her husband live in Hamilton County, Indiana with their children. Laurie focuses her personal time on family life, which includes attending and traveling to many school and club athletic events, and spending time with friends and extended family.
